How and why do proponents of population control affect/shape multiple society domains (food, housing, etc.)?
Social-justice movements.
Proponents of population control advance their ideologies by basing them on overpopulation. Ross posits how the myth is propagated throughout culture and politics, leading to ethical relativism, which justifies human rights abuses (73). It disguises essential topics like uneven distribution of wealth and resources, an issue that requires an address. While reproductive strategies are critical to controlling communities, they are primarily utilized for systemic coercion. Significantly, population-control measures threaten reproductive freedom and manifest through multiple social domains such as food insecurity, housing segregation, and zoning regulations (Ross 74).

They shape such factors through restrictions and enacting unfavorable laws which target specific communities to discourage their reproductive tendencies. Ross highlights how the United States Supreme Court upheld a ban on renting housing facilities to undocumented immigrants in Nebraska (75). Proponents of population control justified the action by arguing that it was a way to prove that they were legally present. Such tendencies are prone to assumptions that ultimately threaten the social domains of such societies. They believe that when such factors are influence, it will help reduce their reproductive health.

2. And how do these measures affect women of color? Ross asserts that historical population control tendencies in the United States include promoting harmful contraceptives, separation of families, and sterilization misuse (74). They were advanced by white supremacists who wanted to depend on subjugating Indigenous communities and racial boundaries. Therefore, the measures affect women of color because they are subjected to reproductive oppression, which persists. Significantly, it affects their life decisions and hinders them from accessing the resources required for implementing the choices. It is a model by racists to inflict their control on women of color, thereby defying their rights to birth justice and self-determination. https://youtu.be/Wtroop739uU
